Bird Houses and Other Objects on Poles

Did you know that bird houses are not permitted on WRREA poles and or transformer poles? 🐦

Our linemen climb utility poles at all hours of the day, often in harsh weather conditions. Having safe and unobstructed access to a transformer pole is necessary for maintenance and emergency service work.

Birdhouses as well as satellite dishes or any sharp objects like nails, tacks or staples for attaching signs, also pose a danger to our linemen. If a sharp object punctures a lineman’s glove or damages other safety equipment, our lineman’s lives are put in danger. The safety of the Member is also put at risk when placing these items on poles.
