Outdoor lighting not only enhances your yard, but is important for safety and security. The following tips can brighten your property year-round while conserving energy.

1. Use motion sensors to light the entrances to your home. Yard lights are often unnecessarily ran at times when they are not required.

2. Use single, "plantable" solar lights to give your garden a pleasant glow, instead of having permeant wired in lights.

3. Replace outdoor incandescent bulbs with CFLs or LEDs.

4. Be sure to clean your outdoor fixtures frequently. Dust and dirt reduce brightness.
