Have you ever wondered how much power your cell phone really uses?
Cell phones, mobile phones, even smart phones and tablets are very energy efficient because they are designed to run on a battery for a long period of time. Cell Phones use approximately 5 watts when charging, while a charger left plugged in without a phone will consume 0.1 to 0.5 of a watt.
This simple formula calculates how much energy a cell phone that is charged for three hours each day will use over the course of a month.
Watts / 1000 x Hours x Days in Month= kWh
Example: 5 Watts / 1000 x 3 x 31 = 0.47 kWh
