How Electricity Gets to You

1. GENERATION: Electricity starts at a generator which can be powered by wind, water, or the burning of fossil fuels.

2. TRANSMISSION: The generated power travels through cables called transmission lines. These lines are part of the provincial power grid.

3. DISTRIBUTION: The electricity gets converted at a substation to a lower voltage and travels along REA owned distribution lines.

4. CONSUMPTION: The electricity passes through a customers transformer mounted on a pole to convert the voltage so it can be safely used in the home.
