With Christmas fast approaching, these great tips can help you cut down on your energy usage this holiday season.

  1. Use LED bulbs instead of incandescent to cut down on their consumption by over 50 %.

  2. Try to do all of your Christmas baking consecutively to take advantage of an already hot oven.

  3. Inspect your furnace filter monthly. A dirty filter can restrict airflow and cause your furnace to work harder.

  4. Consider a motion sensor and or a timer for your Christmas and yard lights.

  5. Turn down the thermostat when you have several guests over. Your house will more than likely become warmer with all of the extra bodies moving around.

  6. Install a low flow shower head to save on hot water and energy costs when you have large amounts of family staying with you over the holiday season.
