Winter Energy Saving Tips

The following tips can help you reduce your overall consumption this winter.

  1. Put on a sweater and lower your thermostat to potentially save energy.

  2. Make sure you change the direction of airflow on your ceiling fan. In the winter, change your fan's direction to turn clockwise, drawing cooler air up and allowing warmer air to be pushed toward the floor.

  3. Put down a rug to help insulate your floors.

  4. Install a furnace filter alarm. This will let you know when it's time to change your filters. Don't forget to check your furnace filter monthly during the winter months and replace it if it's dirty. Keeping the filter properly maintained can also improve air quality.

  5. Keep air vents clear of furniture and appliances so heat from the furnace can be dispersed into the room.
