2019 Wild Rose REA Ltd. Scholarship Recipients

The Wild Rose REA scholarship was created to recognize the academic accomplishments of children of Wild Rose REA Ltd. members and to assist and encourage further education for the betterment of the our community. 2019 Rural Roots Recipients

The Wild Rose REA Rural Roots award was created to support the development of rural clubs, societies, groups and programs within our service area and highlight the enhancements these groups make within our community. On April 17, 2019 six $500 Rural Roots awards were granted at our 2019 Annual General Meeting. 2019 Annual General Meeting

A very big thank you to the 146 Members who attended our 2019 Annual General Meeting held on April 17, 2019. Not only did you help us celebrate 72 years of history, you helped us raise $1,550.00 for STARS Air Ambulance! We would also like to thank our vendors for donating various door prizes for our AGM. Easter Office Hours

Happy Easter! A reminder that the Wild Rose REA office will be closed on Friday April 19, 2018. The office will reopen at 8:00 AM on Monday April 22, 2019. Energy Saving Tip: Did you know that a slow cooker is a great way to cook many of your Easter dinner side dishes? A slower cooker efficiently cooks your food while leaving the kitchen at its normal temperature. You also don't have to turn on your oven or use a burner on your stove which will ensure you have plenty of space in the kitchen to work with.

Spring is a great time to look over your home for things you may have noticed during the cold winter months when it comes to your consumption! The below tips can help you make your home more energy efficient. Seal cracks and openings to prevent the cold outside air from leaking into your home. Add caulking or weather stripping to seal air leaks around leaky doors and windows.

Do You Know What to Do If The Power Goes Out?

There are a number of causes for unplanned power outages, because of the diverse nature of electrical distribution systems, the following are examples including but not limited to: Weather is a major cause of power outages; lighting, wind, freezing rain, snow, forest fires, and tree branches in contact with power lines can cause an outage. Wild Rose REA performs regular maintenance, however equipment failures do occur. If power equipment is hit and damaged as the result of a high load move, a motor vehicle accident or excavating, a power outage can occur. Landowners must always be aware of overhead and underground lines, making contact can cause an outage. Always be aware and ask yourself, '

It's no April Fools joke--energy efficiency will save you money by lowering your overall consumption and at the same time help protect the environment. By following one of the below tips this week, you can keep money in your pocket, no Joke! Take advantage of daylight instead of artificial lighting, but avoid direct sunlight. Wash only full loads of dishes and clothes. Consider air drying both dishes and clothing. Take short showers instead of baths.
